Highlands earns 15th win of campaign

The Highlands Ladybirds softball team (15-6 overall) clinched another top seed in the 36th District with a 6-0 blanking of Newport on Monday.

Highlands stayed undefeated in 9th Region action at 9-0 and moved to 3-0 in district play. The only district seeding game remaining is May 19 against Dayton.

Ladybird pitcher Bailey Spencer took a perfect game into the seventh inning. She finished with 14 strikeouts.

Highlands pounded out 11 hits in the win. Brooke Dill, Rachel Gabbard and Brennah Dutcher had two each. Dutcher had two doubles and Dill added the other double. Gabbard had two runs batted in.

Highlands plays at St. Henry on Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.

Baseball:
Highlands-Bishop Brossart cancelled:

The Bluebirds (12-11 overall) saw another home game cancelled. They take on Cincinnati Elder in a make-up game Tuesday at 5 p.m.
