The
Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team went 1-1 on the first day of the Jefferson
County Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Louisville on Friday.
Highlands (9-12) beat Bullitt East, 2-0 (25-20, 25-18) before losing to North Oldham, 2-0 (25-12, 25-19). Against Bullitt East, Kaitlin Hall had 23 assists, three aces and 11 digs. Malorie Hegge and Jessica Ginter had six kills each and Sydner Kroger 12 digs. Against North Oldham, Hall had eight assists with Kroger recording nine digs. Ginter and Emma Delagrange added three kills each.

The Lady
Breds (11-4-1) shut out the Lady Eagles to snap a three-game losing streak.
Amber Gries
scored two goals to lead Newport Central Catholic. Jenna Ahlbrand, Donnelly
Simmins and Ansley Davenport had the other Lady Bred goals. Davenport, Erin
Bunzel, Simmins and Taylor Tolle had assists with goalkeeper Meg Martin making
two saves.
NewCath
plays host to Simon Kenton on Monday. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
