Weekend Highlands Results

Highlands Comes Home from Indiana 0-1-1

PHOTO: G. Michael Graham, Fort Thomas Matters. The Highlands boys soccer team finished 0-1-1 in the Evansville Reitz Memorial Tiger Invitational over the weekend.
The Highlands boys soccer team (9-4-3 overall) finished 0-1-1 in the Tiger Invitational at Evansville (Indiana) Reitz Memorial.

On Friday, Highlands tied the host Tigers, 1-1. Senior Alex Foubert scored the only Highlands goal for his third of the year. Foubert has six points on the season.

Highlands had 17 shots with seven on goal to 10 shots including five on goal for the Tigers. Senior goalkeeper Nick Fischer had five saves for the Bluebirds.

The Bluebirds then lost 1-0 to the Marquette Mustangs out of Chesterfield (Missouri) on Saturday. Highlands had 15 shots with five on goal to nine shots with five on goal for the Mustangs. Fischer had four saves.

Highlands plays host to Bishop Brossart on Tuesday. Game time is 8 p.m.

Golf, Boys:

The Bluebirds finished sixth out of 14 teams at the Grant County Classic on Saturday at Eagle Creek Country Club. Junior Luke Muller finished third shooting a 72 on the 18-hole course to lead the Bluebirds.

Highlands junior Justin Gabbard played in the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association All-State Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. He finished 26th in state.

Highlands plays in the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference on Tuesday at the Courses at Kenton County.

Football, Junior Varsity:
Highlands 14, Ryle 6:

Highlands is 2-2 following a home win over the Raiders.

Junior quarterback Jake Fahlbusch had a touchdown run for the Bluebirds. Sophomore linebacker Dawson Gauspohl had an interception return for the other Highlands touchdown.

Highlands travels to Simon Kenton on Saturday. Game time is 11:30 a.m. in Independence.
