Leigh Places Fourth at Central Kentucky Showdown

The Highlands Bluebirds boys golf team finished fourth in the Central Kentucky Showdown at the Danville Country Club on Tuesday.

Highlands shot a 327 overall. Senior Ryan Leigh placed second overall shooting a 73. Sophomore Justin Gabbard followed shooting a 79 with eighth grader Joel Craft shooting an 84. Sophomore Luke Muller and senior Brady Walz shot 91 and 93 respectively.

Highlands takes on Region 8 rivals Grant County and Mason County in a tri-match at Noon at AJ Jolly Golf Course on Wednesday.

Lady Raider Invite Results:

Highlands finished ninth at the Ryle Lady Raider Invite at Lassing Pointe in Union shooting a 381. Sophomore Ellie Rowland led Highlands shooting an 82 finishing tied for 13th out of 90 golfers.

Two-time defending state champion Louisville Sacred Heart won the 17-team tournament shooting a 307 and Lexington Christian finished second shooting a 308. Madison Central finished third at 319 and the host and defending 6th Region champion Ryle finished fourth with 320 points.

Also for Highlands, freshman KJ Toole finished tied for 26th shooting an 88 and senior Olivia Hopper shot a 98. Junior Clara Bushman shot a 113 and senior Marlena Auch shot a 128.

Highlands takes on Campbell County on Thursday at AJ Jolly Golf Course. Tee time is 1 p.m.
