The third time did not turn out to be the charm for the Highlands Bluebirds baseball team (18-12) on Wednesday as the Covington Catholic Colonels run-ruled the Bluebirds, 14-2 in six innings.
CovCath has won all three meetings against the Bluebirds this year. The Bluebirds dropped to 11-5 in 9th Region action with the loss.
Highlands travels to Scott on Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m.
Softball:
Highlands 14, Dayton 2:
The Ladybirds (10-15-1 overall) finished off 36th District play with five-inning run-ruling. They will be the top seed in the 36th District Tournament.
Highlands plays host to St. Henry on Friday. Game time is 6 p.m.
