For the first time in school history, the Highlands Bluebirds soccer team stepped onto the field of the rival Covington Catholic Colonels under the new lights.

The Highlands Ladybirds soccer team (9-2-1 overall) rallied past the Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers to open the annual Lexington Catholic Cup on Monday by a 2-1 score.

The Highlands Bluebirds soccer team (7-3 overall) recorded its third straight win with a 2-1 victory over the host Louisville Collegiate Titans (5-2) on Saturday.

The Highlands volleyball team made it back above .500 at 7-6 overall with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-17) victory at Walton-Verona on Thursday.

Highlands Claims Third Straight Over NCC

It took a match-up with the 36th District arch-rival to end the losing streak.

But the Highlands Bluebirds soccer team (5-3 overall) wore down the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds (5-4) in the second half on their way to a 4-2 victory at Morscher Sports Complex in front of a good crowd. The Bluebirds have won three in a row in the series.

Ladybirds Dominate In-County Rivals

For the third time since Wednesday and the fourth time this season, the Highlands Ladybirds soccer team (7-2-1 overall) hit the 10-goal mark. They did it to county rival Bishop Brossart, 10-0 at Tower Park on Monday.

Great Effort for Ladybirds Against Defending State Champs

Highlands, West Jessamine Tie 1-1

Brian Wiefering made a great point after the Highlands Ladybirds soccer team tied the defending state champion West Jessamine Lady Colts, 1-1 at Tower Park on Saturday.

Highlands tied West Jessamine but lost 1-0 to Sacred Heart on Aug. 26. West Jessamine beat Sacred Heart, 2-1 on Aug. 16. Sacred Heart beat Lexington Catholic, 3-1 to open the season on Aug. 14. But LexCath beat West Jessamine, 3-2 on Aug. 23.
